Like many new parents, Brett and Carey Baker wanted to spend time with their daughter. However, their careers did not offer much in terms of flexibility. “We knew we were not alone”, say Carey Baker, President Part-Time Pros. “I have several friends who are degree-educated with small children at home, and I knew they would be interested in resuming their careers and contributing to their family’s income but they also wanted to have time to be mothers and wives. That’s why we started Part-Time Pros.” Since inception in March of 2008, we have expanded our outreach and have hundreds of early retirees, independent consultants or contractors, and other degreed professionals seeking flexibility in the work place. As an example, one of our professionals retired in 2005 as a hospital executive. He travelled the world with his wife and played a ton of golf. After three years of retirement and seeing an article about Part-Time Pros he came to us and stated “I found my life had become pretty boring and I knew that I needed something more if I was going to retain a positive mental outlook and physical health. I did not want to work full time, but I did desire to return to work on a part time basis. With Part-Time Pros help, I began a part-time job with a local healthcare organization and enjoy the work immensely. Even my wife has recognized that this work and the commitment to being in the work place again, has significantly improved my attitude.
